Santorini, Greece

Okay – here we are in the Greek Islands … we are in Santorini and the “city/village” is at the top of the mountain – there are 3 ways up – 1) walk? (I don’t think so) 2) a sky buggie on a wire? (aahhh no way Jose`!) 3) A donkey ride up the hill – okay, a donkey ride it is, why the heck not? So away we go on a donkey - who has absolutely no idea of where they are going, except to (pardon me) follow the ass in front of them. So up up up we go, I laugh almost all of the way up the hill. The view is splendid – oh my God – photos will not even come close to doing this picturesque island any justice at all. We walk through “tourist” Santorini, use the Internet, and look at some local goodies. We get away from the other tourists and find a stone paved walk on the ridge of the hill with plunging views down to the sea below. Most all of the buildings are painted white and Greek flags are catching the breeze everywhere. The sky is the same color of the ocean – we stop near the top for some Greek food. Just like at home, I must order something not on the menu (can you say I am a Sally? Like in the movie when Harry met Sally) I ask for cucumbers, feta cheese, any veggies they have and of course bread and olives – my dream of culinary mouthwatering delights is prepared and on our table in front of us in no time – oh my – I think I am in epicurean heaven – I am a true foodie. The food was fantastic and I am totally digging the whole Greek experience so far – so happy in fact that I must snap a photo of the old Greek momma who prepared our food. The rest of the day we wonder around and take the sky buggies down the hill – the only good part of that experience was that we got to share our buggie with two local men and we chatted the entire ride down the hill. Our next stop? At the bottom - a Greek bar where we refuel our now empty tummies – cooked spinach with garlic topped with sliced tomatoes with baked cheese melting over the top and a plate of French fries – of course we tried a Greek beer and a glass of ouzo – wow. The day was warm and sunny; the views cannot be put into words. This is a “must see” for everyone.
I think I still have garlic breath! Love U all, Nora

Wow - Greece looks amazing. I can only imagine if your pics don't capture it. We miss you two. Love the wonderful posts and pics. Food looks great. Also, loved the previous photo of you on a camel. Did it spit? I got slimed by a llama once. Hee. Be well. We think of you often. Love, Kathleen, Sonny and Brooklyn

I think I forgot to save my first comment to this posting. Just wanted to let you know that you commanded, and I obeyed! Love the pictures of Greece and I look forward to more. Thanks for the itinerary you e-mailed, too.
