We took a 12 day cruise through Norway – we visited Stavanger, Grieanger, Hellesylt, Trodheim, The North cape, Voss, Bergen and lots of scenic cruising through the Norwegian fjords. I am going to look at the photos and do a free style word association for you. A plethora of countless waterfalls, pristine coastline, trolls of every size, churches, rivers, more waterfalls, hiking, camping, healthy looking people, a lunch of salmon prepared every cold way possible. Rain, vibrant wildflowers, hikers, cold air, cloudy skies, $7.00 (US) for a lattĂ©. White houses, roofs with grass growing on the tops of them. Green meadows, houses with red shutters, fresh air, Dolls with long braids. Knitted hats, knitted socks in bright colors, Viking hats with horns for tourists, Norwegian sweaters with silver buckles. Lutheran churches, the sun setting at 12am and rising at 4am – not sleeping well because of the perpetual sunlight. Rose colored earrings, Funny sounding food I couldn’t pronounce. Driving to North Cape, the land looked like a moon landscape without any greenery, too cold so not much grows. Real reindeer, chilly wind, coat-scarf-hat-jeans-hiking boots. Standing by the North Cape globe with a chilling wind on my face, nose running, stacking rocks making a mini Stonehenge. Hundreds of fish drying on racks, coffee at a cafĂ© and pastry overlooking a plunging valley, the Voss waterfall overflowing with descending water, cupping my hands and drinking from it. A terrible lunch of cold fish and tasteless salads. A train ride that stopped at the largest waterfall I have ever seen – music played from a speaker and a woman danced on a rock in the water. A shoe cobbler, bakeries, open air markets, people walking dogs, knitted headbands and bright ski hats. We had a good time in Norway even though it was way too expensive – we couldn’t believe the prices. I did get two Norwegian sweaters –
at the Salvation Army.
